Rugby at Sportball

Rugby

In 1823, legend has it that a boy named William Webb Ellis picked up a ball during a soccer match and ran with it over the goal line! The game took place at the Rugby School in England and hence the beautiful game of rugby was born.

Today Rugby has evolved into one of the fastest growing sports in North America and in 2016 gained new status as an Olympic sport.

Rugby is a game of fair play, teamwork and discipline. In order to go forward, the ball must be passed backwards. Sportball children will be taught amongst other things, how to create and use space in order to score as a team.

Rugby programs for children 3yrs to 5yrs (Parent and Child) and children 5yrs to 9yrs (Drop-off) are offered in the Spring and Summer at select outdoor locations. Children learn how to pick-up, handle, pass, receive, kick, and move with & without the Rugby ball.  All Sportball programs are designed to grow with your child and reenrollment is encouraged.
